2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

The 2026 Commonwealth Games are scheduled to take place from July 23 to August 2, 2026, in Glasgow, Scotland. This marks the city's second time hosting the Games, following the successful 2014 edition. The event returns after a period of uncertainty, having initially been awarded to Victoria, Australia, before that bid was withdrawn due to escalating costs. Glasgow stepped in to host the Games, adopting a streamlined and cost-effective approach. The Games will feature a 10-sport programme, including six para sports, and will be held across four existing venues within an eight-mile corridor of the city. Approximately 3,000 athletes from up to 74 Commonwealth nations and territories are expected to participate. The sports programme includes athletics and para athletics, swimming and para swimming, artistic gymnastics, track cycling and para track cycling, netball, weightlifting and para powerlifting, boxing, judo, bowls and para bowls, and 3x3 basketball and 3x3 wheelchair basketball. The Games are projected to deliver over £100 million of inward investment into the city and are expected to support over £150 million of economic value added for the region, with a model designed not to require public funding for the delivery of the Games. The official mascot for the Games is a unicorn named Finnie, a tribute to the Finnieston area of the city. Designed by 76 children from 24 local schools through the Mascot Maker initiative, Finnie sports a horn inspired by the iconic traffic cone placed atop the Duke of Wellington statue outside the Gallery of Modern Art, a humorous nod to a quirky local landmark. The official logo for the Games combines the Commonwealth Sport logo with the overall visual identity of the 2026 Games, emphasizing the central role of the Commonwealth Games within the wider Commonwealth Sport Movement.
